medcom.id, Jakarta: The fate of death row drug convict from the Philippines, Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso, is still unknown. Attorney General M. Prasetyo said he is still waiting for the legal process in the Philippines.

"It does not mean she is free from punishment in Indonesia," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/3/2016).

Prasetyo admitted that Mary Jane was human trafficking victim, but the Philippine woman was caught red-handed of smuggling heroin to Indonesia.

Mary Jane's lawyer, Agus Salim, stated he has not received any information about execution. Agus believes Mary Jane's fate will only be decided after the legal process in the Philippines.

Mary Jane was arrested in Adisucipto Airport, Yogyakarta, in 2010. She was caught carrying 2.6 kilograms of narcotics. She was supposedly executed last year, but it was cancelled as she was named as witness for human trafficking case in the Philippines.

Yogyakarta's Attorney Office spokesperson Zulkardiman said his office has not received instruction regarding Mary Jane's execution. However, she is still a death row convict.

The government is speeding up preparation for the third batch of executions in Nusakambangan Prison, Cilacap, Central Java. The police reportedly has prepared firing squads for the executions.

The firing squads come from Central Java Police's Mobile Brigade unit. Aside from that, officials also have prepared medical team and clergies.

Currently, the number of death row convicts waiting for execution are 59 people. 14 convicts were executed last year, most of them are foreigners.
