medcom.id, Jakarta: Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Setya Novanto reported Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said to the police. However, Minister of the Secretariat of the Cabinet Pramono Anung thinks the report is only common.
"Every citizen has a right to report, as a democratic nation provides protection," mentioned Pramono at the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Office, Jalan Diponegoro, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday (12/10/2015).
Pramono believes that Sudirman is able to face the report. According to him, President Joko Widodo has not commented on the issue yet.
Novanto reported Sudirman to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Tuesday evening, December 8. Novanto was bitter, as he considered Sudirman had defamed him as the number one person in the parliament.
As informed, Sudirman had reported Novanto to the Council Honor Board with an allegation of requesting for stocks to PT Freeport Indonesia. The report was accompanied by the taped evidence of the conversation between Novanto and the Director of Freeport Indonesia, Maroef Sjamsoeddin, as said to happen on June 8.
Following the issue, the public condemned Novanto. The urge for the Golkar politician to step back from his position had flown not only from the activists or other party's politicians, but also from within Golkar.
The spokesperson of the Golkar Party Young Generation, Andi Sinulingga, mentioned that Novanto's efforts in requesting PT Freeport Indonesia's stocks was a serious violation against his positional oath. Therefore, Novanto should step down from the position of Speaker of the House.
"We are ashamed of the actions of Golkar member (Novanto)," Andi said on Wednesday, December 9.
