medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesia is still in need of death penalty, especially on narcotic cases. Looking at Indonesia's condition, which is listed in the category of drug emergency, death penalty has paved a way to impose deterrent effect to the big dealers.

National Anti-Drug Agency (BNN) deplored several parties refusing death penalty for drug dealers, with the reasons of breaching human rights. According to BNN, the actions of the dealers in distributing drugs Indonesia, had violated the rights of many more.

"When talking about drugs, don't think only about the suspects' rights, but also the victims'," said BNN Public Relation Officer, General Commissioner Slamet Pribadi, in a dialog at Metro TV's Bincang Pagi, Monday (9/21/2015).

Criminal Law Observer, Asep Iwan Iriawan assessed that there was no reason to postpone, or even erase death penalty in Indonesia, especially on drugs cases. The government and attorney general are hoped not to easily influenced by foreign demands on execution policies of death penalty in Indonesia.

With the reason of government relationship or international relations, it will never be finished. Attorney, like it or not, has to conduct (death penalty). If we wait for international community to stop their demands, it will take forever to be resolved," Asep explained.

Controversy of death penalty again resurfaced after the plans of the third chapter death penalty. Several parties assessed that death penalty deserved to be erased as it is against the basic human rights to be alive. But there are also many supporting death penalty, especially to drug dealers, as their actions distributing drugs in Indonesia has taken many lives.
