medcom.id, Jakarta: Gerindra Party is still maintaining its role as opposition although some Red and White Coalition (KMP) members has turned into supporting the government.
"We say that KMP is done. Now, it has been almost one and half year, one by one the member has gone. Therefore, de facto, KMP is no longer there," mentioned the Secretary General of Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, at the parliament Complex, Thursday (2/4/2016).
Muzani ensured his party will continue to be opposition. "Opposition is the best choice. Because no matter how good the government is, it still needs the balancing power, controlling power, to give warnings," he explained.
KMP is formed prior to the 2014 presidential election. The coalition supported the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair of Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa.
Following the loss at the election, the KMP parties chose to act as an opposition. However recently, several members like PAN and Golkar switched sides to support the government
