medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attended the national congress of United Development Party in Pondok Gede, East Jakarta, this afternoon.
President Jokowi was welcomed by the party's sharia board chief Maimun Zubair and Minister of Religious Affairs who is also PPP member, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin.
The congress is intended to unite the party which have been divided into two fronts since 2014. Some members acknowledge Romahurmuziy while others support Djan Faridz.
PPP politician Arsul Sani mentioned Djan Faridz would not attend the reconciliation congress. "However, Achamd Dimyati Natakusumah (a member of Djan's camp) would come," he said, Jakarta, Friday (4/8/2016).
No less than 1,641 members from all regions in Indonesia. Majority of them have voting right to elect party chairman.
