medcom.id, Jakarta: Jakarta Police is to take firm actions of regular ojeg (motorcycle public transport) who frequently threatened riders and passengers of Go-Jek. These regular riders have been asked to restrain themselves and prove a more creative service.
"I am asking for ojeg riders to restrain themselves, we, the police, will protect anyone from violence or law violations. If we find violations of law, we will act firmly," the Chief of Jakarta Police Inspector General Tito Karnavian said at the City Hall, Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Monday (6/15/2015).
He suggested that regular ojeg riders should be more creative in providing their services, as Go-Jek is a form of creativity for ojeg services providing easy access to passengers in traveling without having to wait at an ojeg shelter.
"Fellow ojeg riders should start in creating new innovations for the public to utilize their services. If there is another way of easing the public, I think it would not be a problem," he added.
The former Papua Police Chief also explained that regular ojeg riders should not be worried about the presence of Go-Jek. The target market for regular ojegs and Go-Jek is different.
"Just like taxis, there are lower class and executive, they have different market. I think it is not necessary to worry, as the Jakarta market is very big. Jakarta have more than 10 million residents, don't be afraid of losing market. The most important issue is the service," he said. (Eps)
