medcom.id, Jakarta: Jakarta Provincial Government is expected to legalize motor-taxis (ojek) as a mean of public transportation in the capital. The legality is deemed necessary as the safety standards for ojek may be applied. It also will tie the motor-taxis to fulfill safety requirements prior to carrying clients.
Founder and CEO of Go-Jek Nadiem Makarim stated, his party will not interfere with the legalization of motor-taxis. The company is just an application provider used by a transportation company.
"It is between the government and ojek. We are actually an application provider for our clients, ojek, and another one the consumers," Nadiem said at the Go-Jek Office, Jalan Kemang Selatan Raya, South Jakarta, Thursday (8/6/2015).
Nadiem hoped that the government to legalize motor-taxis so the government may decide the safety standards for the ojeks.
"If the government wants to regulate, it is better to use Go-Jek standards, our safety standards, driver safety training standards, our consumer rating system. We would gladly assist the government, if the direction is set that way," he mentioned.
Nadeem is certain that the Jakarta administration may develop ideas such as Go-Jel to be implemented in public transportation. Unfortunately, the Go-Jek ideas was first mentioned by him.
"That is why Ahok (Jakarta's Governor) is very supportive with us, as this is something the government may be able to do, but the private sector did it first, which is why we are highly appreciated," he said.
