medcom.id, Jakarta: Total solar eclipse will occur on Wednesday (3/9) morning in some part of Indonesia. The natural phenomenon is a special event.
Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) mentioned that the total solar eclipse will occur in Palembang, Belitung, Balikpapan, Luwuk, Sampit, Palu, Ternate, Bangka, Palangkaraya, Poso and Halmahera.
Meanwhile, partial solar eclipse will occur in Padang, Bandung, Denpasar, Kupang, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, Manado, Jakarta, Pontianak, Makassar and Ambon.
Total solar eclipse only happens roughly once every 350 years in the same location. "Because it is rare occurrence, eclipse hunter will come from everywhere," said the Head of LAPAN, Thomas Djamaluddin, to Metrotvnews.com, Monday (3/7/2016).
"On March 9, it will only pass Indonesia. so researchers and tourists who want to witness the eclipse should come to Indonesia," he continued.
Thomas stated LAPAN will conduct research at regions passed by the total solar eclipse including Palembang and Ternate.
