medcom.id, Jakarta: Teman Ahok (Friends of Ahok) volunteer group has allowed Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama to run on a political party ticket in 2017 Jakarta election. They will not force him to run as an independent.
Teman Ahok founder Singgih Widyastomo confirmed that Ahok can freely choose whether to run on a political party ticket or as an independent.
"We give him freedom," Singgih said at Teman Ahok's office, Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/29/2016).
Ahok has received support from three parties: Nasdem, Hanura and Golkar. Those parties have 24 seats in the Jakarta City Council.
According to the regulation, a party or a coalition of parties can nominate a candidate in 2017 Jakarta election if they have at least 22 seats in the council.
