Govt Sinks 117 Illegal Fishing Boats in 2015

medcom.id, Jakarta: Illegal Fishing Eradication Task Force (Satgas 115) mentioned government has sunk 117 illegal fishing boats from January 1 until December 31, 2015. Lastly, government drowned 10 illegal fishing boats today (12/31/2015).
 
Satgas 115 Chief Vice Admiral Widodo mentioned, excluding the boats that were drowned today, the drowned boats were mostly from Vietnam with 39 boats followed by the Philippines with 34 boats, Thailand with 21 boats, Malaysia with six boats, Indonesia with four boats, Papua New Guinea with two boats and China with one boat.
 
Wiodo explained the modus operandi used by the perpetrators. "They tried to avoid us by changing their flag. It was like cat and mouse," he said.
 
He admitted new modus operandi could emerge in the future but he committed to eradicate illegal fishing for next year.
 
"We target zero percent. I hope there is no more illegal fishing," he concluded.
