Police to Guard Ahok's Blasphemy Case

medcom.id, Jakarta: Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono said the police will guard Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama's blasphemy trial.

"We will anticipate all risks," Argo Yuwono said on Tuesday (12/6).

Previously, the North Jakarta District Court announced that the first trial will be held on December 13. It will be open to the public.

"We must respect legal process," Argo Yuwono continued.

The police named the Jakarta governor as a suspect in a blasphemy case last month.

Several Muslim organizations reported the politician last October after he made a controversial comment about a verse in the Koran.
