medcom.id, Bandung: The Mayor of Bandung Ridwan Kamil declared Bandung as the human rights friendly city. The declaration is a preparation prior to receiving the predicate of International Human Right Friendly City from the United Nations (UN) on December 10, 2015. Bandung has become the first city in the world receiving such predicate.

Based on the audit performed by the Foundation for International Human Right Reporting Standard, the Pasir Biru and Merdeka districts in Bandung have qualified as human right friendly areas, as they are certified by the UN.

Emil said, following the certification of the two districts as human right friendly districts, officials have continually launched development programs to balance the mid-upper with the mid-low societies, in an effort to balance the lives of Bandung citizens.

The Head of Merdeka district, Cece Sahroni said, his party only applies maximum services  to the public, such as educational services, health and administrations. "I was also surprised that this district has received such title, it is an honor and pride for the people of Merdeka," he said. (Eps)
