medcom.id, Solo: Since December 24, 2015 to January 3, 2015, 256 people died due to various traffic accidents. The number was mentioned by National Police's Traffic Corps Insp. Gen. Condro Kirono when he visited Tirtonadi Terminal in Solo, Central Java, Sunday, January 3, 2016.
Nevertheless, Condro also admitted the number of traffic accidents has declined this year.
"The number is 256 throughout Indonesia, whereas it declined compared to the number of victims on the same time last year," said Condro.
One of the factors causing the accidents was the congested traffic. Therefore, Condro urged public to plan their return trip carefully.
"Travelers using personal vehicles must plan their return trip, although we have limited logistic transportation except for basic needs, fuel and export-import," he added.
Condro also underlined the importance of safety. "Besides comfort, travelers should be concerned about safety," he concluded.
