medcom.id, Jakarta: Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan have commented less on the candidates for Indonesian Military Commander-in-Chief to replace General Moeldoko. The appointment of the candidate is completely President Joko Widodo's prerogative right.

"It is the President's prerogative. It is the president's call on (who is) the Military Commander," Zulkifli said at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (6/5/2015).

The talks surrounding the Military Chief turnover was quite popular, as the Secretary of Cabinet Andi Widjojanto mentioned the turnover is not based on batch rotation.

"It depends on the President's defense politics," Andi said at the Presidential Palace, Wednesday, June 3.

The same was conveyed by the Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu. He affirmed that the selection of Military Chief is based on President Joko Widodo's consideration. Ryamizard stressed that the batch rotation does not apply in the selection of Military Commander-in-Chief, as there is no law stating that the Commander-in-Chief position is held in turns by respective Chief of Staff in the military.

Military Chief General Moeldoko is to retire in August. The House requested that the President immediately submit the name of Military Chief Candidate. (EPS)
