medcom.id, Jakarta: The eldest son of Democratic Party chairman and former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, will resign from the military after he was announced as governor nominee in the Jakarta 2017 gubernatorial election.
Democratic Party, PAN, PKB, PPP pledged their support to Agus at SBY's house in Puri Cikeas, Bogor, West Java on Friday (9/23) evening.
"That is the consequence," Democratic Party secretary general Hinca Panjaitan said ater the declaration.
Agus entered the military in 2000. His current rank is Major Infantery.
He will compete against incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and nominee from Gerindra-PKS coalition in the election.
