medcom.id, Jakarta: The Jakarta Provincial Government is going to evict residential area near historic Luar Batang village, North Jakarta. It plans to develop maritime tourism destination there.
Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama explained Luar Batang has great maritime tourism potential. Tourists could visit, among others, the historic Luar Batang Mosque.
"This is good for tourism. We will build big plaza from Sunda Kelapa Bay to Luar Batang Mosque. It shows Jakarta's history," said Ahok at City Hall, Jakarta, Thursday (3/31/2016).
Ahok expected the eviction plan will run smoothly as the land is owned by the government. "Those are state lands," he added.
North Jakarta Mayor Wahyu Haryadi has sent first warning letter to residents on Wednesday, March 30. At least 569 people live in the location.
