Ahok Admits He's 'Bribeable'

medcom.id, Jakarta: Jakarta Governor Basuki `Ahok` Tjahaja Purnama admits he can be bribed by anyone. However, it is not by money.
 
"I met a business friend in a wedding, and he wanted to bribe me for Rp30 billion. (I said) 'Let me inform you, I can be bribed. My price, is your life. If you want to bribe me, pay me with your life'. He went sour and turned his back on me," said Ahok in his welcome speech at the Great Hall of the City Hall, Medan Merdeka Selatan, Tuesday (9/15/3015).
 
Ahok admitted that ever since he became the Regent of East Belitung, he had applied the principles of not receiving any bribes from anyone and by anything, except with the briber' life.
 
He considered his action as not putting up a good image. Ahok is often doubted on his consistency in holding his principles, especially with the low head of region salary and bribery temptations, as in project fees or the billion rupiah signature.
 
"Even I pay when dining with a businessman. My operational money is huge. I told my adjutant to pay. No businessman paid, so they know. I am a model," he stated.
 
Ahok mentioned that when he was a regent, lots of his friends turned nice on him. He was once given a large size refrigerator in front of his house. He was surprised and asked about the delivery.
 
"A business colleague sent one giant refrigerator to my house. It was from my other friend's store. Who is it from? It was from X. I called him, asking why sending the refrigerator all of the sudden? No occasions whatsoever. He answered, my friend became a regent, I am happy, so I sent that," Ahok shared his story.
 
"When I got married, your envelope was only Rp100,000. When my father died and went broke as a businessman, there was a big fat billing check, you only gave me Rp100,000. I believe this has something to do with my position," Ahok added.
