medcom.id, Jakarta: Setya Novanto officially resigned from his position as House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker. The vacancy position could be an opportunity for Great Indonesia Coalition (KIH) to reshuffle the House leadership.
"KIH has a possibility to push revision of MD3 Law which regulates the House leadership. The possibility is that the KIH could take over the leading positions in DPR," mentioned political observer of the State Islamic University of Syarif Hidayataullah Jakarta, Pangi Syarwi Chaniago when contacted on Wednesday evening (12/16/2015).
Pangi analyzed the allegation of ethics violation conducted by Novanto, in the case of misusing the names of the president and vice president, is only an entrance to reshuffle the leadership of DPR.
"The ethics violation is just an entrance to reshuffle the leaders of DPR. But as long as the MD3 Law is not revised, it is possible that the replacement of the Speaker of the House's position will be from Golkar," explained Pangi.
He said, according to the law, that as long as the MD3 Draft is not revised, the Speaker of the House will still belong to Golkar Party.
"If there is a move to revise the law, the leadership could change entirely," he concluded.
