Indonesia Announces Moratorium on Death Penalty

medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesian Government for temporarily will not hold execution for drugs convicts. Government for now concentrates to improve economic condition.
 
Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Luhut binsar Pandjaitan explained it after he returned from Australia. He attended Terrorism funding eradication forum in Sydney.
 
Luhut said Australian Government respects Indonesia's policies and will not intervene.

"They will not intervene. I said that we dont think yet to continue execution when our economic situation is still like this," said Luhut in his office, Jakarta, Thursday (11/19/2015).
 
Luhut explained, government for now concentrates to improve economy. "We concentrates on economy. We will talk about it. They agreed," he said.
 
Indonesia's economic growth in first semester this year failed to reach 5 percent. more foreign investment needed to boost infrastructure development in Indonesia.
 
Previously Indonesia implemented execution for drug dealers. The controversy surrounding the policy reemerged during plan to hold the third round of execution.
 
Some people considered penalty should be erased because it violates human rights while others support death penalty especially for drugs dealers because they cause a lot of suffering.
