Metrotvews.com, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo is scheduled to hold cabinet meeting with his ministers in Natuna Islands today. They will discuss about economic development in the region.
"President wants to know the real condition in Natuna Islands," said Presidential Communication Team member Ari Dwipayana in his written statement in Jakarta, on Thursday (6/23/2016).
Natuna Islands are located near the disputed areas of the South china Sea. Last week, Indonesian Navy shot and caught Chinese fishing vessel in Natuna waters.
"President Wants to transform Indonesia into global maritime fulcrum. Maritime development in Natuna Regency hopefully can bring welfare to its people," Ari continued.
Jokowi is accompanied by Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti, Indonesian Armed Forces chief General Gatot Nurmantyo, and other high-ranking officials.
