medcom.id, Jakarta: The government has started the preparation for the third batch of executions. Attorney General M. Prasetyo mentioned his office is preparing all requirements for the executions.
"We will also prepare the religious counsel," said Prasetyo at Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/3/2016).
However, Prasetyo underlined that he has not yet decided the date of the executions. "Now we only need to determine the day. Not yet," he stated.
He also reiterated that the government carries out the measure as a fight against drugs. "I repeatedly stated this is not easy decision. But this is necessary to protect our nation," he argued.
Prasetyo last month revealed that the third batch of executions will be held this year. The police recently revealed that they have prepared the firing squads for the executions.
"One firing squad comprising of 14 personnel. It has been detrmined by the regulation," said Central Java Police's operation bureau chief Sen. Comr. Tatang to Metrotvnews.com on Monday, May 2.
Tatang also informed that Central Java Police Chief Ins. Gen. Condro Kirono has visited Nusakambangan Prison, Cilacap, Central Java last week. He checked the latest preparation for the executions.
There are 59 death row convicts in Nuskambangan Prison. The government executed 14 convicts last year. Most of them were foreigners.
