medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo gathered a number of law experts at the Freedom Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (9/22). He asked their opinions on several issues, including past human rights violations.
"One of them is Munir's case," Jokowi said at the meeting.
The prominent Indonesian human rights activist was assassinated during a flight to Amsterdam on September 7, 2004. The mastermind is still free until now.
They also had discussion about corruption and drug-related crimes. The former Jakarta governor mentioned Indonesian legal system is too lenient to corruptors and drug lords.
"Our legal system does not have deterrence effect to corruptors," Jokowi stated.
