medcom.id, Jakarta: Head of Public Relations of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN) Grand Commissioner Slamet Pribadi said the two last cases revealed by the agency involved an Indonesian woman as drug courier.
"Both cases involved women as couriers. The smuggling motives were also similar. They were involved in a Nigerian syndicate," said Slamet at the BNN's Office, Jalan MT. Haryono, Cawang, East Jakarta, Friday (8/7/2015).
Slamet mentioned that the Indonesian female suspects arrested were victims of the Nigerian international drug syndicate's trickery. The woman was easily swayed by a Nigerian man.
"One of the suspects with the initial 'I' said she was romantically swayed by her Nigerian lover. She then agreed when lured to be a drug courier," Slamet said.
Aside from the romantic affairs, Slamet said other Indonesian woman who was also a victim of the Nigerian network was lured due to economic factor. Promised to be given an amount of money, she then easily abided by the directions of the Nigerian drug network.
"Another female Indonesian suspect has an initial of 'N', who was lured by an amount of money into becoming a drug courier," Slamet explained.
BNN advised the public to become more aware due to this syndicate's invitations. The Nigerian drug network often recruited Indonesian women by providing them money, or even promised to be taken as wife.
"Nigerians, this drug distribution syndicate, is known as very generous. Then be careful with their perverseness," Slamet concluded.
