medcom.id, Jakarta: Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Yuddy Chrisnandi plans to reduce the number of civil servants starting next year. The policy is based on civil servants restructurization plan.
Yuddy explained the ideal number of civil servants should be 1.5 percent of total population. The current number of civil servants is at 4.517 million people, or 1.77 percent of total population.
"The ratio of the civil servants should not surpass 1.5 percent. Currently it is 1.77 percent. So, I think 1.5 percent will be around 3.5 million people. it will be manageable," mentioned Yuddy, Jakarta, Thursday (2/25/2016).
According to the law, civil servants restructurization will be applied until 2019. The
The government is currently putting forward the negative to zero growth moratorium. The civil servants admissions are conducted on particular years, whereas when it is applied, the number received to become civil servants will continue to decrease.
"retired civil servants are at around 520,000 in 2019, new recruitment will be less than that. Zero growth . So, for example, in an office with 100 retired civil servants, the maximum number added will be only 20," he mentioned.
Yuddi added the reduction would make welfare program for civil servants like Work Accident Insurance and Mortality Insurance (JM) more effective.
"It is our homework for the next three years, as it should be rationalized so the welfare programs would be well implemented in the future," concluded Yuddy.
