President Urges AGO to Solve Past Human Rights Violations

medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo urged Attorney General HM Prasetyo to solve past human rights violations. It was mentioned during cabinet meeting.
 
"To the attorney general, I ask to solve past human rights abuses, so it would not be a burden for all of us," said Jokowi at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (1/5/2016).
 
Jokowi realized the human rights abuse in 1965 has occurred for long time ago. Therefore, seriousness of government is needed to resolve it.
 
"There is a process to be conducted and decided. I hope it is applied soon," he concluded.
 
Meanwhile, Prasetyo mentioned his office chooses reconciliation to solve seven past human rights violations.
 
"Evidences are hard to find, The same for the witnesses and suspects, as it had occurred for too long, maybe the most effective and right way is reconciliation," mentioned Prasetyo.
 
 
Prasetyo explained the mechanism will be acknowledgment of past human rights violations by the government, statement of remorse from the government and then restoration for the victims.
