medcom.id, Jakarta: The Ethics Council of the House of Representatives (MKD) ensured that the verdict for case involving the Speaker of the House Setya Novanto, is to be decided on Wednesday. The decision is to be made despite the absence of Riza Chalid's statement, an oil businessman who was also caught up in the case.
"Wednesday is final," mentioned the Deputy Chief of the Council Sufmi Dasco at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (12/14/2015).
The deadline was a result of an internal meeting on Monday evening, but Dasco did not reveal the content of the meeting as it was a secret.
The council will not wait the examinatiion of Riza Chalid. "With the current facts and evidence, we decide on Wednesday," affirmed the Gerindra politician.
Dasco affirmed that MKD will answer the hopes and aspirations of the people as soon as possible. The MKD also promised to resolve the case before parliament recess on December 18.
Although failing to get statement from Riza Chalid, MKD had obtained sufficient information from the witnesses. The first witness is Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said, on December 2, as well as the President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia Maroef Sjamsoeddin a day after.
Maroef is the one who recorded the discussion between himself, Riza and Novanto. The former Deputy Chief of State Intelligence Agency (BIN) was also the one handing over the recording of the conversation to Sudirman Said.
Third witness was the defendant, Novanto. Differing from the two previous witnesses, the examination on the Golkar politician was closed for public. On the trial held in December 7, Novanto dismissed the content of the recording.
On Monday, MKD had examined former Presidential Chief of Staff Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. The man who is now the Coordinating Minister of Politics, Legal and Security was asked to clarify because his name was mentioned 66 times in the recording.
