Ahok Withdraws Appeal Against Blasphemy Sentence

medcom.id, Jakarta: Non-active Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama has withdrawn his appeal against his two-year sentence for blasphemy.
 
Ahok's lawyer I Wayan Sudarta mentioned that the former lawmaker wants is concerned about social unity and public order.
 
"He wants to make sacrifice for the people. He wants to make sacrifice for peace," Sudarta said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Ahok's wife Veronica mentioned that the former East Belitung regent will be supported by relatives and friends.
 
"We will not prolong the issue. We will support Bapak," Veronica said.
 
Besides Ahok, public prosecutors also submitted an appeal for the case.
