medcom.id, Jakarta: Following the incident in Tolikara, President Joko Widodo prioritizes the efforts of recovery and prevention of the riot from spreading to other regions. Another priority is the investigation on the matter until the intellectual actor is found.
"President is to conduct a dialog with religious and public figures of Papua, to cooperate in suppressing, calming the situation there, as well as (the situation) nationally," said Teten Masduki, Member of the Presidential Communication Team at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (7/22/2015).
It has become one of the President's instructions during a coordination meeting with the Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno, Head of National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Sutiyoso, Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti, Military Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo, Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, as well as Minister of State Secretary Pratikno.
Teten continued that Jokowi affirmed other issues in the meeting, which the first one being the necessity in upholding the law against the incident. "Secondly, President instructed the reconstruction of damaged facilities, such as the kiosks, mosque and others," he added.
Gatot Nurmantyo urged Indonesian citizens not to be separated due to the incident. He also appreciated religious leaders' choice of calming the situation rather than sparking religious issues. The most important matter, as Gatot stated, was to continue the citizen's economic cycle.
"The diversity (kebhinekaan) should not be torn apart only by this particular matter," he stated.
Gatot then mentioned that the President provided a Rp1 billion aid to the people of Tolikara. The construction of mosque was also accelerated within a month on the land owned by the local military command. Also, he added, as many as 70 burnt down kiosks are to be rebuild with the same specifications.
"Added with 15 more kiosks. These 15 are for the locals to open a business kiosk there," he stated.
At the same location, Badrodin stated that the police is to name the suspects soon. He was reluctant on mentioning which parties strongly indicated in becoming suspects. Thoroughly, there had been 31 witnesses examined.
"Today the examination continues to probably five or six witnesses, as by conducting the examinations, it is hoped that we will be able to name the suspects," he revealed.
As related to the recommendation letter from GIDI, the Police Chief admitted the document, dated July 11, 2015, is real. It has been confirmed to the two signees of the letter, Head of Toli Regional Board Rev. Nayus Wenda, as well as the Secretary, Rev. Marthen Jingga.
"However, they stated it was cancelled, but until the commencement of Eid prayer, there were no cancellation or revoke letter," he mentioned.
He also stated that the investigation had touched the officials handling the mass action, as casualties occurred from local residents.
"The way I see it is already according to procedure. But we will still conduct examinations. So far, based on my statements on the spot after I inquire them, I consider it as procedure." (EPS)
