medcom.id, Jakarta: Head of National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Retired Lt. General Sutiyoso held a meeting at his official residence. He gathered National Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti and Military Chief General Gatot Nurmantyo, as well as several religious leaders.
Among the attendees were the Chairman of Islamic Students Association (HMI) M. Arief Rosyid Hasan, Head of the National Committee of Indonesian Youth (KNPI) Muhammad Rifai Darus and the Secretary General of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Marsudi Syuhud. There were also the Chairman of Indonesian Churches Conference (KWI) Ignatius Suharyo and the General Secretary of the Board of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) Gomar Gultom.
"The understanding on the importance of unity is needed. Religious leaders, figures and youth are hoped to provide examples on the importance of maintaining unity," Sutiyoso said at the Official Residence of the Head of BIN, Jalan Denpasar, South Jakarta, Wednesday (7/22/2015).
The meeting was held in closed manner, as related to the post-prevention measures of the riot in Tolikara, Papua, earlier on Friday, July 17. He assessed there was a third party intentionally using the moment.
"There was the third party aiming for energy resources. Our country is rich in resources, especially the unexplored Papua. But others may be detected through the satellite. We have abundant natural resources and the fourth highest human resources in the world," he explained.
Sutiyoso hoped that the riot in Tolikara does not continue. He urged all parties to restrain themselves, as the conflict may benefit those who are aiming for Papua's wealth.
"If we continue fighting, the potential will not be able to be utilized, since in building a country requires cohesiveness. Don't fight over diversities," he concluded. (EPS)
