medcom.id, Jakarta: The Ministry of Home Affairs is formulating the general election draft bill. It covers various issues including the parliamentary threshold.
House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Ade komarudin agreed with higher parliamentary threshold. Previously, Nasdem Party proposed the threshold to be increased from 3.5 percent to 7 percent.
"Nasdem has good proposal. If the party has sufficient resources, it surely can reach 7 percent," he said at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Friday (7/22/2016).
"But I can decide alone. It depends on the political parties," he continued.
He added that higher parliamentary threshold will ease political consolidation. He underlined that democracy in Indonesia should improve.
