medcom.id, Jakarta: Around 4,000 farmers held a long march in downton Jakarta on Monday, August 28, 2017.
The rally was centralized at the National Monument area. It was organised by the Indonesian Sugarcane Farmers Association (APTRI).
The government was urged to protect sugarcane farmers. It was urged to reduce sugar imports.
"We have stopped our production activities. We have stopped out trucks," APTRI representative Dwi Irianto said.
The government was asked to improve supporting regulations. It was asked to increase sugar prices.
"If we have prosper farmers, we will have prosper country," he added.
