medcom.id, Jakarta: It has been 17 years since the May 1998 riot became part of the dark pages of Indonesia's reform history. During that time, the case which took human lives has not been resolved, especially the people behind the incident.

That was the aspiration of the families of the Trisakti Case, delivered to the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Zulkifli Hasan on Monday (5/18/2015). The victim families' entourage went to the office of the Chairman of the Assembly at the Parliamentary Building in Senayan, Jakarta, escorted by the ranks of Presidential Board of Trisakti Students.

The Student President of Trisakti University, Muhammad Puri Andamas, again advised the establishment of an ad-hoc court to resolve the Trisakti Case. The representative of the victim's families has also recommended the titles of Reform Hero to the four Trisakti students killed in a demonstration for reformation and commemorate May 12 as the Students' Movement Day.

"We and the victims' families hope the recommendation is accepted by the Chairman of the Assembly and conveyed to the President for follow up," Muhammad Puri Andamas said.

The Chairman of the Assembly Zulkifli Hasan conveyed his sympathy to the families. He has agreed to deliver the recommendation letter to President Jokowi.

"Coincidentally, I will meet the leaders of state agencies including the President and Vice President of Indonesia at the State Palace. On the meeting, I will convey the issue of resolving major human rights cases in Indonesia including the Trisakti Case," he promised.

According to Zulkifli, the Assembly has so far taken the initiatives as the facilitator of Human Rights violation cases, including the May 1998 case. The leader of Indonesian Consultative Assembly had discussed with human rights activists and more.

"During those talks, all elements have agreed on the efforts to resolve major human rights cases. There has to be a serious effort to completely resolve them," affirmed the PAN politician. (Eps)
