medcom.id, Bogor: The Center for Plant Conservation-Bogor Botanical Gardens plans to build two new botanical gardens in Bali and Belitung.

The Head of Bogor Botanical Gardens Didik Widyatmoko explained the new botanical gardens will represent different ecoregions. He estimated the project will be completed in seven years.

"The most important thing is regional governments have high commitment and provide enough budget," said Didik in Bogor, Wednesday (5/18/2016).

Until now, there are 30 botanical gardens in all around Indonesia. Didik stated ideally Indonesia has 47 botanical gardens.

Botanical gardens have five main functions namely conservation, research, education, tourism and economic empowerment. The gardens also use to conserve rare plants.
