medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widoodo thanked the Nahdlatul Ulama Central Executive Board (PBNU) after a mass protest in Jakarta last week.
"Statements from PBNU national and regional officials managed to ease the tension," said Jokowi at PBNU office in Jakarta on Monday (7/11).
Muslim hardliners staged a mass protest against Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama last week. They demanded the police to charge him for religious blasphemy.
PBNU and other large Islamic organizations in the country did not support the demonstration.
"We can do concrete things to develop the country," Jokowi stated.
