medcom.id, Jakarta: Attorney General Office (AGO) will immediately summon House of Representatives Speaker Setya Novanto for Freeport case. AGO will ask permit from President Joko Widodo to examine Novanto.
"We are still in investigation. We will see. If permit is needed, we will ask for permit," said Attorney General HM Prasetyo in his office, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/15/2015).
Prasetyo hoped Novanto will voluntarily come to AGO to be examined. "Permit is not needed if he voluntarily come," Prasetyo added.
Constitutional Court (MK) previously decided law enforcer must receive permit from President to examine lawmakers. Novanto is not yet summoned by AGO. While businessman, Riza Chalid, didn't fulfill the call.
The case started when Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said reported Novanto to House Ethics Tribunal (MKD) for falsely using President and Vice President's name to get illegal gain from PT Freeport Indonesia's contract extension negotiation.
Sudirman brought recorded conversation between Novanto, Riza Chalid and PT Freeport Indonesia CEO Maroef Sjamsoeddin as evidence.
