medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo respects decision from Setya Novanto to step down from House of Representatives Speaker. The resignation letter was given to House Ethics Tribunal Deputy Chief Sufmi Dasco Ahmad yesterday (12/16/2015).
"We respect decision from Novanto," said President Joko Widodo in Pullman Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (12/17/2015).
According to Jokowi, the resignation will not have big influence on relation between executive and legislative. He said both institutions have good relation. "There will not be ant influence, the relation is good," he added.
Jokowi ensured he doesn't has personal problem with Novanto although the later falsely used his name in conversation about PT Freeport Indonesia's contract extension.
The president doesn't want to comment about the prospect of new speaker. "No comment," he answered.
Setya Novanto resigned after he was brought to House Ethics Tribunal for falsely using president and vice President's names. The case was reported by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said.
In his letter, Novanto mentioned he resigned to protect Parliament's honor and dignity and stop polemic in public.
