medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has condemned a mass shooting at a music concert in Las Vegas late Sunday night, which killed at least 59 people and injured more than 500 others.
"I believe the United States government will remain strong and powerful to eradicate terror threats," said the PDIP politician in East Jakarta on Tuesday morning.
The mass shooting occurred at around 10:00 pm local time (12:00 pm Jakarta time Monday). It was carried out by Stephen Paddock (64) from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay, a hotel casino next to the concert venue.
The suspsect then killed himself in his hotel room. The attacker was considered as a lone wolf by the Las Vegas Police.
The Indonesian Foreign Ministry has confirmed there is no Indonesian casualty in the mass hooting. The Indonesian Consulate General has contacted a number of local officials and medical centers.
"There are no reports of Indonesian casualties," said the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arrmanatha Nasir in a written statement on Monday evening.
