medcom.id, Jakarta: Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) stated that Ciliwung River is suitable as tourist attraction. He claimed that the river has become cleaner.
"It is more suitable for eco-tourism," Ahok said, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/18/2016).
The Jakarta Provincial Administration previously planned to develop water-based transportation in the river. "But it is faster to travel by land," he added.
Ahok has instructed East Jakarta and South Jakarta mayors to cooperate with apartments near the river to build parks in the riverbanks.
"We will allow apartments to build parks in the riverbanks as long as they will maintain it," he concluded.
Ahok recently observed the progress of Ciliwung River normalization project in East Jakarta and South Jakarta. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
