medcom.id, Jakarta: Incumbent Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama has denied that he will report Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) chairman Maruf Amin.
"It is wrong," Ahok said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Maruf testfied at Ahok's blasphemy trial yesterday. The Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) cleric explained MUI's recommendation about Ahok's blasphemy case.
"He is NU cleric. NU often defends me. NU often protects me," Ahok stated.
MUI is the top Muslim clerical body in the country. Meanwhile, NU is the largest Muslim organization in the country.
