PDIP Says It Will Not Block Tito Karnavian Nomination

medcom.id, Jakarta: Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) said it will not prevent fit and proper test for National Police chief candidate Comr. Gen. Tito Karnavian. The fit and proper test will be conducted by the House of Representatives Commission III overseeing legal affairs.

"Fit and proper test will be conducted by Commission III," said PDIP faction deputy chief Hendrawan Supratikno at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Thursday (6/16/2016).

According Hendrawan, PDIP does not question Tito Karnavian nomination. The party is strong supporter of National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan.

Last year, President Joko Widodo nominated Budi Gunawan as National Police chief candidate. However, before the inauguration, Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named him as corruption suspect.

This year, Jokowi picked Tito Karnavian over Budi Gunawan even though many observers said the former is too young for the position.

"We will prioritize togetherness," Hendrawan concluded.
