Big Waves Give Trouble to Fishermen in Northern Java

Iswahyudi • 13 June 2016 19:24
medcom.id, Kendal: The big waves that hit Java's northern coast in the past few weeks have caused trouble to fishermen in Kendal Regency, Central Java. Many fishermen prefer to dock their boats.

The big waves prevent them to go to the middle of the sea. As the result, they catch low number of fish.

Local fisherman, Muhamad Nurudin, said that he can only sail near the beach. "I have sailed for all day, but I only catched few fish," Muhamad told Metrotvnews.com, Monday (6/13/2016).

Kendal fishermen need Rp200,000 a day for operational costs. Muhamad lamented that it is difficult to cover the expenses.

"I don't have the courage to catch fish in the middle of the sea. My boat is small," said another local named Sapuan.
