medcom.id, Jakarta: Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan mentioned lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) should be treated equal.
"Whoever they area, they are still Indonesians who have rights to be protected," said Luhut when he met media in his office, Jakarta, Friday (2/12/2016).
Therefore, Luhut urged Indonesian people not to respond LGBT issue with violence. He argued the issue should be handled either by religious or psychological approaches.
"I want we as a nation has dignity because it is not because their own will. We do not know their family background," he continued.
The former general said nobody can guarantee all their relatives or colleagues is not part of LGBT community. "Anything could happen. So do not judge other people. We must have introspection first," he concluded.
