Gov't Receives List of '65 Mass Graves

medcom.id, Jakarta: The head of Murder Victims Research Foundation (YPKP) 1965/1966, Bedjo Untung, submitted the list of mass graves containing the victims of the 1965 communist purge to the government.
 
Bedjo mentioned that the mass graves spread around Java and Sumatra. "There are 112 mass graves," He said to reporters after he met with Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Jakarta, Monday (5/9/2016).
 
Bedjo demanded Luhut to protect the mass graves. "So it will not be destroyed by people with bad intentions," he said. 
 
According to him, Luhut approved the demand. "I guarantee the security (of the mass graves)," Bedjo quoted Luhut.
 
Separately, Luhut stated that the government will create a team to verify the list. However, he did not reveal when the team will be officially established.
 
It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of people died during the 1965 communist purge.
