medcom.id, Medan: Hundreds of birds were released in Sibolangit Natural Park, earlier on Thursday (4/14/2016).
The birds released were among the protected species, such as Straw-headed Bulbul, Sooty-headed Bulbul, Parakeet and Doves.
Three days earlier, North Sumatra's nature conservation unit (KSDA) had also released a black eagle in Sibolangit, and five orangutans in Jantho Natural Reserve, Aceh.
"The black eagle was handed over by residents, while the orangutans were from Sibolangit quarantine center. For orangutans, they were released in their original habitat, in Aceh," said Rahmat, Thursday (4/14/2016).
Rahmat mentioned the population of wild animals has decreased significantly. He urged public to preserve wildlife in their region.
