medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo declared June 1 as Birth of Pancasila Day. He also made the day as national public holiday.
On June 1, 1945, Soekarno gave speech in front of the Investigating Committee for Preparatory Work for Indonesian Independence (BPUPKI) where he introduced Pancasila as Indonesia's ideology.
"June 1 is Birth of Pancasila Day," said Jokowi during the Commemoration of Bung Karno's speech on June 1, 1945, Bandung, Wednesday (6/1/2016).
Jokowi underlined the importance of Pancasila. It is needed to unite Indonesian people for the betterment of the nation.
"Helping each other for the well being of the public," he continued.
Former President Megawati Soekarnoputri, House of Representatives Speaker Ade Komarudin and People's Consultative Assembly Speaker Zulkifli Hasan and ministers from the Working Cabinet also attended the event.
