Batam Boat Accident Death Toll Rises to 54

medcom.id, Batam: The death toll from a boat accident in Batam waters climbed to 54 on Friday (11/4) morning.

Riau Islands Police chief Brig. Gen. Sam Budigusdian said six people are still missing. Authorities are still searching the missing.

He mentioned that two crew members survived the accident. Police detained one crew member on Thursday (11/4). The other crew member managed to run away.

"We are still hunting him," he told reporters.

A boat from Malaysia to Indonesia capsized in Batam waters on Wednesday (11/2) morning. The boat carried Indonesian migrant workers.
