medcom.id, Boyolali: Aceh People has proven to the world their spirit to recover after tsunami devastated the province in December 26, 2004. 11 years after the disaster, the province has been rebuilt.
"The world have witnessed it," said President Joko Widodo in Boyolali, Central Java as quoted by Presidential Communication Team in press release received by Metrotvnews.com, Saturday (12/26/2015).
President Joko Widodo acknowledged solidarity showed by foreign countries during Aceh's post-tsunami rehabilitation and reconstruction process. Moreover, he underlined the importance of optimism in the recovery process.
"With the optimism of Aceh people, the difficult time can be solved mainly by themselves and of course with aids from foreign countries," he continued.
Tsunami claimed at least 200 thousand lives in Aceh. The disaster was a big blow for the province which previously suffered from decades of conflict between government and rebel group, Free Aceh Movement (GAM).
Government and GAM signed a peace agreement in 2005. Aceh enjoys peace until now.
