medcom.id, Jakarta: PT Pertamina (tbk) estimated that prior to Ramadan (fasting month), there will be a surge of fuel consumption. To anticipate this, Pertamina is to operate a number of terminals for 24 hours daily.
The Corporate Communication Vice President of Pertamina Wianda Pusponegoro stated that during normal condition, the consumption of Premium reaches around 75,000 kiloliters (kl) on daily basis, as diesel is recorded at 35,000 kl and LPG at 19,000 metric tons. Nevertheless, the fasting month will see an increase of 10 percent to 15 percent.
"Prior to this year's fasting and Ramadan, there will be a surge in fuel consumption at around 10 to 15 percent," Wianda stated in Jakarta, Tuesday (5/19/2015).
Wianda admitted the issue has been predicted by Pertamina. In fact, the increase has become common. Pertamina has also conducted anticipation measures to address the issue. "So, we usually do it as a routine in Pertamina," Wianda revealed.
She explained that one of the measures to be taken by Pertamina in anticipating the surge in fuel consumption is by preparing fuel and LPG supplies to the 24-hour refilling terminals.
"Later, we will have Pertamina terminals operating for 24 hours. Thus, we want this supply stocks to be available in order for the public to receive sufficient supplies on the field," she concluded. (Eps)
