Indonesian Navy Prevents Hijacking of Singaporean Vessel

medcom.id, Jakarta: The Indonesian Navy prevented the hijacking of Singaporean vessel, MV Hai Soon 12, in the waters off Tanjung Puting, Central Kalimantan.
 
"We arrested nine hijackers on Monday (5/9)," said Navy spokesperson Commodore Edi Sucipto in a written statement received by Metrotvnews.com, Tuesday (5/10/2016).
 
MV Hai Soon 12 was en route from from Singapore to Dumai, Riau. The ship suddenly went missing in Karimata Strait.
 
The Navy succeeded to detect the ship using data from Automatic Identification System (AIS). The hijackers renamed MV Hai Soon 12 to KM AISO.
 
The nine hijackers are Indonesians. "They wanted to remove 200 kiloliters of oil fromm MV Hai Soon 12 to Malaysian vessel, MT Marine Gas Oil," Edi continued.
 
The hijackers were brought to Surabaya, East Java by Navy vessel, KRI Untung Suropati-372. "The Indonesian Navy will continue to conduct patrol to protect our territory," Edi concluded.
