medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo is to select a replacement for Indonesian Military Commander-in-Chief Moeldoko based on his defense politics, not by rank rotation.

"It depends on the President's defense politics," the Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto said at the President's Office, Medan Merdeka Utara, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/3/2015).

He stated that there is no obligation on conducting Article 13 paragraph (4) of Indonesian Military Law No. 34 Year 2004, where the Indonesian Military Commander is held in turns by high ranked active officer from each batch in the position of Chief of Staff.

"The Law indicated the needs of rotation, but there is no obligation that it should be from the Army, Navy or Air Force," Andi stated.

When asked whether there is a possibility that the Commander in Chief would be from the Military, Andi did not answered.

As informed, the Military Commander in Chief General Moeldoko is to retire on August 1, 2015. Moeldoko has held the rank of Commander in Chief since August 30, 2014, to replace Admiral Agus Suhartono. President Jokowi is to submit the name of Commander in Chief candidate before June 2015. (EPS)
